smores please

Like most of my "I cant believe my kid did that!" stories this one is about my Princess Bee. My oh so curious Bee. I always tell myself after one of these adventures in Bee's world (as we like to call them) that one of these days that curiousity will be directed in a positive way. Like rocket science. Or the cure for cancer. She loves to experiment. We have safety talks in our house. Like if you break a glass don't walk in it. If there's a tornado get in the tub. If there's a fire who goes where. Well I guess Bee wanted to practice the fire drill this morning because today's experiment included a campfire and her bedroom. I had just woken up and Matt was still sleeping. Hamster came running in telling me that Bee started a fire. I go running. I think Matt thought he was dreaming because it was only after the fire alarm went off that he sat strait up and screamed "What did you say?". All the while Bee's response to all this is "Get out of the house!!! Everyone get out of the house!!!!!" I, being the genius that I am, grabbed the fabric covered plastic basket that she caught on fire and is now shooting flames and immediately took it across the hall to the bathroom and threw it in the tub burning my hand on the way. As far as the house goes there is minimal damage. Some charred carpet that should clean out with a little scrubbing. Bee has spent the morning scrubbing the soot off the bathtub as part of her punishment. What do you do???? Seriously what do you do? I don't remember going through this with Hamster. I don't remember doing this when I was a kid. I get normal curiosity. But what do you do about the dangerous curiosity? Is starting a fire in her bedroom one of the times that you say this is not normal? All I know to do is pray. I pray for the right words to speak to her so this doesn't happen again. And I pray for the strength to stay cool in situations like this.
